Autumn/Winter Idea Book Launch and Customer Appreciation Event - September 9 & 10

This Idea Book Launch will be held at my home (102 Louisa Avenue, Kipling) from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. both evenings. It is a come and go event, chalked full with fun, prizes, make-and-takes, more prizes, customer specials, upcoming classes, special sale items, Workshops on the Go and even more prizes!!! Yes, I typed that correctly - several ways to win! Everyone that shows up will get their choice of a gift from the gift basket. :)

I will have some on hand product for sale, including new, gently used and retiring product.

I am such a Christmas Card junkie, but wanted to create a basic workshop for beginner to more advanced card makers. Time slips away on my occasionally and I forget to take pictures of the projects I have been working on. The rest of my excuse is that it is nice to take pictures in daylight and it is quite dark by the time I can get at picture taking in the evenings. The days are getting longer, so this will not be an issue for much longer, thank goodness. I think I'm almost caught up on this years art work posts with the addition of 19 pictures today.
Many of the following pictures are from the Workshop On The Go Kits (WOTG). Veranda Paper Pack was January's Kit, Topstitch was February's and March's will be You Rock. Please note - if you do not live in the Kipling area, you still can do the WOTG in the comfort of your home or even take it with you when you are out of town for a few days. The kits come with nearly everything you need, are affordable (start at $35.50 CAN$) and a whole lot of fun! I offer a discount on the extras such as stamp pads and markers or even extra coordinating cardstock if you like. We can arrange to have it shipped directly to you, wherever you live in Canada. Some quick pages put together with comments, memories, and good wishes for my Grandparents 65th Anniversary. Grandpa and Grandma are very appreciative of all the contributions. A total of 15 pages put together within an hour. The same could be done with your pictures with a coordinating mat for the pics. I was actually through the first 1/4 of the challenge set for 2010, by January 16th, mind you these pages don't really count since they were so easy. On the other hand, I'm setting the rules so I'll count them in.

100 pages plus 100 cards, I think I could be losing my mind. Getting just the basics done always seems like a chore, but I've broken it down into more manageable parts - 2 pages and 2 cards per week. When said that way it doesn't seem so bad. There may be a little cheating along the way (had a little headstart on a few projects this week that my need to be counted toward my total) and there is no guaruntee that there will be pictures on all or even half of the pages. Just got to get started somewhere. Hoping to keep posting pictures as time allows. We'll keep a running total here on my blog, to see how I'm progressing.

Grace Workshop On The Go - Registration Deadline October 27th

Our next WOTG will be using the Grace Paper Pack and will be held on Thursday, November 12th from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This workshop involves preordering of supplies, so the registration deadline will be this Tuesday evening (Oct. 27th) at 8:00 p.m.

This paper pack will appeal to the romantic in you, with the heartfelt saying and flourishes included in the stamp set and floral paper pack that is not too girly for the men in your life. Make either 12 cards or 4 scrapbook pages, or if you are like me (you want it all), you can complete all 16 projects with paper left over to keep on cre8ing!

Christmas Card Workshop Instructions

This post is for the ladies who are working on their card workshop from home! The pictures I promised to post regarding our Christmas Card Workshop are below. To complete this workshop with similar results to the cards posted below, follow the pattern in the Just Because Card Workshop from the new Wishes How-To Book.

If you are short on time, or want to simplifiy your card making experience, chose a couple of your favourite patterns, cre8 multiples of the same card pattern and leave the rest for another day. By chosing few patterns to put together you can speed up your cutting time (because you will not have to be referring back repeatedly to the guide and label each piece) as well as the time spent putting the card together, stamping and embellishing when you do multiples of the same card.

I would highly recommend doing this card workshop sometime when you have a day to devote. If you don't have that kind of time now, feel free to simplify. Whatever you chose, enjoy the process!!

Our first family boating trip

It's hard to believe, but this is the very first time all four of us have been in a boat together. Darren resisted as long as he could, but after spending our 15th anniversary in the Emergency Department at the Regina General with his gallbladder, he was eager to make up for a bad anniversary. The timing was right, as he had a new lease on life now that he was feeling better. So when he asked what I wanted for our anniversary, I said "For you to go boating with us". In his weakened, doped up state, he agreed, and I held him to that promise. Darren had a few experiences on boats before, but none of them really went well, at least until last weekend.
We spent several hours last Saturday out on Boundary Dam in over 30 degree temperatures with my brother, his girlfriend, and my beautiful little niece, Ciara. We boated, tubed and spent a long time just hanging out in the lake. I couldn't think of another place I would have rather been at that moment, it was wonderful. Not only did Darren seem to be feeling pretty comfortable on the lake, he actually admitted to enjoying himself! He even talked about going out again....and teased us with comments about buying a boat (as long as it doesn't sit on the grass in the ditch like the last one - a story for another day).

Thanks to everyone that supported my Idea Book Launch and Customer Appreciation Event on Sunday. The turnout was perfect...just the right number of ladies to keep me busy. I hope no one left feeling neglected, well except for Wanda perhaps, but she is used to it. :)

Let's dance!

Wow! This is the most dancing my family has ever done in one night. Darren dance more than he has in years (since before we were married), and Cole even seemed to enjoy learning to two step. Of course, Rylie danced all night without any hesitation - perhaps she takes after me. We all had a great time at my cousins' wedding this last weekend. The wedding was lovely and it's great to spend time with Mom's side of the family. Hoping to do that more often. Congratulations Josh and Lori!

Another highlight of the long weekend was spending time with our long-time wonderful friends - David, Kristi, Kally and Brynn. We did not have nearly as much time with them as we would have liked, but what little time we had was a lot of fun, as always. Thanks for finding a ticket to Bryan Adams for me, Kristi! Seeing this concert was definately one of my favourite experiences this summer. I'm not sure which was better - seeing Bryan Adams, or going to a concert with Kristi...you just know you can sing and dance your heart out when your with her, which is precisely what I did. What a blast!

My take on Twitterpated Workshop on the Go

This was the first of the new series of Workshops on the Go that I have completed. I'm very excited that the new WOTG format comes with instructions for both scrapbook layout and cards all in one kit! You don't have to decide if you are going to scrapbook or make cards until you pull out your first piece of paper. The above picture shows part of what I made from this kit 6 scrapbook pages and 15 cards (added a little colonial white for some page and card bases), and there is still some uncut paper leftover. The stamp set has a cute little hedgehog and mushrooms, along with a couple of sentiments.

Taking a few weeks off from posting

Hi followers - I will be taking a few weeks off from posting any new artwork. My family and are have lots planned for the next few weeks - 3 weeks of camping (with several nights of preping for camping) plus I'm hosting my 20 year class reunion on the same weekend as Kipling's Centennial. It will be a very busy few weeks, as I'm beginning to feel the stress of getting my house in order, as well as the yard. Paper crafting will have to take a back seat to my other projects this month. Looking forward to get back on here next month, hopefully with fresh artwork to inspire, and new classes to sign up for. See you soon!

Hope you enjoy some cards cre8ed for my clubs. These cards have been prepared with Emporium Paper (one of my all time favorite paper packs) and the Dream Wishes Stamp Set for the first card. Cole recently taught me how to use the macro feature on my camera, so hopefully the quality of my pictures will improve in time. :)

Thanks to all those who have shown interest in the Beginner Card Workshops being offered this week. Kipling has a pretty good turn out planned for Tuesday, and Maryfield's workshop is full for Thursday, with another one scheduled for July 14th. Thursday's class will be my first attempt at one hour class, so we'll see how that one goes before we determine the time for the July 14th workshop.

Great time at a three day crop!!

Thanks Lynne, Cathy and Dianne, for making last weekend such a great one! Lynne organized a weekend-long crop at the Mother Theresa Centre last Friday to Sunday. What a wonderfully relaxing weekend it was, productive too. I forgot to take my camera back after Cole's ball games on Saturday, so did not capture the event on film. Guess we'll have to do it again, so I can get some pictures this time. We all expanded our horizons (growing closer in friendship, sleeping later than one had in 10 years, staying in pyjama's most of the day, and learned many more tips and used more tools than we could have imagined). The food and drinks were just right. I forgot a lot of important things like my pillow and sleeping bag if you can imagine, but it was okay because when you stay up until 3 a.m. scrapbooking you crash so hard that you don't even miss these things (luckily there were some quilts in the van from all the cool evenings watching baseball). I truly hope that we can make this an annual event!!

Sorry, no pictures tonight. Hope to get some pictures taken of more recent artwork within the next few weeks.

Thought I would add some artwork that I have been working on recently. This is a mother's day gift for my mom, a keepsake box for all her treasures from her grandchildren. Birthday Card

And here is the card I made to coordinate with the acrylic album, as well as a picture of the products used to create the album. Just a hint for those who are new to acrylic albums - there is a layer of film on both sides of the acrylic pages. Be smarter than me - don't forget to take the film off all the pages! Most just isn't good enough. I had to redo two pages that I'd left the film on. Thankfully, it comes off cleanly!

I have to tell you that I wasn't so crazy about the Daydream paper pack, until I got my hands on it. May have to come up with a reason to get a second pack. At least I've started to conquer my fear of cutting into that first perfect piece of paper.... :)

Well it's about time to get some artwork posted on here, after all art is what this blog is all about. My first post is of an acrylic album that I scraplifted from another consultant a while back. Will have to more conscientious to give other artists credit. I cre8ed this album for Rylie's birthday pictures with a CTMH acrylic album, Daydream paper pack and stickease. Not all the pages are included in this post, but you get the idea. Enjoy!

WOW, I can't believe I'm doing this...Blogging!?! One week ago, blogging was the furthest thing from my mind. Yes, just one week ago. This goes to show you what one week will do for someone who is on holidays.

This has been a busy and cre8ive week for me. Very little was accomplished in my scrapbooking/card making world, but here are some of the other things we did: enjoyed a fun Easter with our very first treasure hunt (this will be our new family tradition), I made my favorite cake and cupcakes yet for Rylie's birthday, hosted her birthday party on Monday, Tuesday was busy perusing magazines for Rylie's bedroom decorating ideas, Wednesday - painted, Thursday - cleaned up and straightened Rylie's Room, Friday - figured out how to redo the bathroom, and Darren painted while I went on to do my income tax (yuck). Whoa, what a run on sentence - sure hope Ms. Long doesn't read this.
What many people don't know about me is that I can make designing a room last for months (sometimes years even), so it is a huge event when it all comes together. I have a little shopping to do to finish of the rooms, but will post pictures when they are complete.
I thought for now I will share my pictures of the birthday cakes/cupcakes, and a few pics from the party.
So back to my blog. My main goal with this blog is to share my paper crafting adventures with a little family life thrown in. It is my intention to update my blog and display new artwork at least once per week, I will start with Monday's for now. This will be the place to look for information on upcoming events, new products, and more. I sure hope you enjoy!!!
